Modeling and Interacting with Agents in Mixed Environments

چکیده
We adopt the decision-theoretic principle of expected utility maximization as a paradigm for designing autonomous rational agents operating in multi-agent and mixed environments. Our approach is based on explicitly modeling other agents, human or artificial. The advantage of our approach is that explicit models are the most comprehensive tools one can use to guide meaningful interactions. The disadvantage is that formulating and maintaining explicit models can be computationally prohibitive.

Human and Virtual Agents Interacting in the Virtuality Continuum
1 Introduction In this paper we take a multi-party interaction point of view on our research on multimodal interaction between agents in various virtual environments: an educational environment, a meeting environment, and a storytelling environment. These environments are quite different. All these environments require the modeling of multimodal interaction: interactions between human users, th...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Saline Gravity Currents Using EARSM and Buoyant k- Turbulence Closures
Gravity currents are very common in nature and may appear in rivers, lakes, oceans, and the atmosphere. They are produced by the buoyant forces interacting between fluids of different densities and may introduce sediments and pollutants into water bodies. In this study, the hydrodynamics and propagation of gravity currents are investigated using WISE (Width Integrated Stratified Environments), ...

متن کاملAdaptive Control Strategy for a Bilateral Tele- Surgery System Interacting with Active Soft Tissues
In this paper, the problem of control and stabilization of a bilateral tele-surgery roboticsystem in interaction with an active soft tissue is considered. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, theprevious works did not consider a realistic model for a moving soft tissue like heart tissue in beating heartsurgery. Here, a new model is proposed to indicate significant characteristics of a moving ...
متن کاملMixed Initiative in Interaction between Software Agents
We have been working during the past several years on techniques for modeling the way that software agents can take and release the initiative while interacting together. We are interested in building multiagent systems composed of software agents that can interact with human users in sophisticated ways which are analogous to human conversations. In this paper, we describe two projects we have ...
